Design or formulate a solution to improve waste collection and reduce (plastic) pollution. How to clean up polluted rivers in Cebu city and come up with innovative solutions? You will work in a mixed Dutch-Filipino student team.

Your team will analyse the sources of pollution of a selected river in Metropolitan Cebu and formulate out of the box solutions to improve the waste collection and the water quality.

The rivers originate from the mountains just a few kilometres outside the city. In these 10 kilometers the rivers become very polluted, upstream from fertilisers and pesticides, midstream, and downstream pollution from densely populated urban areas and informal settlements. Plastic waste and waste collection is a big challenge.

Participate in a 2-week pressure cooker and work on a detailed solution that will help the stakeholders in Metropolitan Cebu to clean-up the rivers.
