As announced in our weekly ClimateCafe GreenBlue, testing of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems as green infrastructure as bio swales will be tested in Eindhoven. Climatecafe EIndhoven took placed 31 May for research the long term efficiency of green climate adaptation measures that are previously mapped on climatescan.org. Unique was a small set up due to Covid, but still a high participation of several (applied) universities TU Delft and HUAS Groningen with Deltares, spearheaded by the municipality of Eindhoven. Impression:
Results: a high number of climate adaptation measures are mapped on climatescan.org and the unsaturated and saturated performance of swales are tested (with full scale tests) which where implemented more than 5-10 years ago. Special attention was given to the bio diversity of the climate adaptation and new methods of testing these green facilities. The results are the backbone of a new maintenance program for the municipality that can be used on (inter)national scale for a better understanding of the required maintenance for a long term efficiency of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems.
